Airfield Information - At The Farm Gate

 

From Aircraft Parking to the Farm Gate is a short walk as can be seen in the photograph.  There are maps in the reporting point that you can take with you to help you navigate the farm and find either of the two Farm Gate attractions.  If you use a map, please return them so that they can be used again.

Local Transport

There are several bicycles on the airfield that are available for visitors to explore the local area.  For those who prefer being driven, there are several taxi firms in the area and the telephone numbers are in the Reporting Point Caravan.

If you wish to hire a car, details will be found in the reporting point caravan but many of the national Hire Car Companies are represented in the local area and bookings can be made before departure.

Vegetable Heaven

Five minutes walk to the left from the farm gate will bring you in Vegetable Heaven. Revill's Farm Shop is the local retail outlet for produce grown near the airstrip.  If you come in the Asparagus season you will have flown round the Asparagus fields next to the shop in your circuit.  Buy here fresh daily what will appear later in the supermarket.  Darren Hedges and his staff can not only provide a wide range of high quality produce, but can feed you as well.  Their tea room offers light snacks as well as tea, coffee and cakes throughout the day.  I can personally recommend the cakes which are a local cottage industry, and despite my enthusiasm for them, I can still get into the cockpit and fly!

The Oak Pub

Turn right at the gate and you can see The Oak Pub sign.

The Oak offers accommodation, drinks, and a wide choice of meals in the restaurant.

The Oak reopened in February 2006 after refurbishment and its local following has gratefully returned to the warm fire in the bar and the convivial atmosphere.
